Top 4 Homemade Dog Shampoo

On the internet, you will find hundreds of different homemade dog shampoo recipes. In particular, we present options that include essential oils and natural ingredients or, failing that, organic and eco-friendly industrial ingredients.

➡️ IMPORTANT: Before preparing and using these shampoos with your dog, consult your trusted vet.

1. Shampoo For All Fur

This shampoo is perfect for all breeds, regardless of whether your dog has long or short, straight or curly hair. Either way, it'll suit him greatly.

To prepare this shampoo, you will need liquid and natural dish soap.

⚠️ Note: Please, read the label to be sure that you are not choosing a non-eco-friendly product.

Ingredients:

    Preparation:

    1. Mix the vinegar with the organic soap
    2. Add the warm water and mix again.
    3. Include the glycerin.
    4. Mix well and store.
    5. You must always mix the shampoo before using it.

    2. Shampoo For Dry Skin

Does your dog have dry skin? So, nothing better than making a nourishing and moisturizing shampoo based on oatmeal.

    Ingredients:

    • 1 cup of uncooked oatmeal (not instant oats)
    • 1/2 cup of baking soda
    • 1 quart of warm water
    • Optional: a few drops of Lavender oil.

    Preparation:

      1. Process the oatmeal until it looks like flour.
      2. Place it in a bowl and mix it with the baking soda.
      3. Add the warm water and mix again until everything is incorporated.

    3. Shampoo To Prevent Fleas

Do you want to prevent fleas without using polluting products? It is not impossible, we assure you.

    Ingredients:

    • 2 ounces of aloe vera gel
    • 2 drops of lavender essential oil

    Preparation:

    1. Put all the ingredients in a spray bottle.
    2. Mix well until combined.
    3. When bathing your dog, remember to wet his coat before applying this shampoo.

    4. Dog Conditioner

If your dog has long hair, a good eco-friendly conditioner to prevent knots is what you need.

    Ingredients:

    • 1 teaspoon of dried rosemary
    • 1 pint of boiling water

    Preparation:

    1. Heat the water until it boils.
    2. Add the rosemary.
    3. Let it infuse for 15 minutes. Don't forget to cover the pot to prevent evaporation.
    4. Strain and cool to body temperature.
    5. After bathing your four-legged friend with organic shampoo, rinse his skin with this mixture.
    6. Rub his fur a bit, and voilà. No need to rinse.

    FAQ

    Eco-friendly dog's bath time

What Can I Use As A Substitute For Dog Shampoo?

You can use natural product blends to replace commercial dog shampoos. Oatmeal, essential oils, baking soda and glycerin are some of the most common ingredients.

Can I Use Dawn Dish Soap To Wash My Dog?

Using Dawn dish soap to bathe your pup is not a good idea. Although some homemade dog shampoo recipes include dish soap, natural and non-commercial soap is always chosen. Dawn soap is concentrated and strong and could cause allergies in your dog.

What Soap Is Safe For Dogs?

A safe soap for dogs must be plant-based and without commercial aromas. In general, glycerin bars or soaps with natural essences are usually chosen if you want it flavored. Ideally, you can create a homemade shampoo to be sure of the safety of the ingredients used.

Can I Bathe My Dog With Vinegar?

You can bathe your dog with apple vinegar, but remember that vinegar is just one of the homemade shampoo ingredients. You should not bathe your pup just with vinegar. Mix the apple vinegar with water to reduce the concentration.
