HOW OUR GIVING WORKS

Most brands say "a portion of proceeds" and hope you don't ask questions. We built a whole page for the questions. Here's where the money goes, how we count it, and the receipts to prove it.

THE 10%

PROFITS TO SOI DOG FOUNDATION

10% of our profits goes to the Soi Dog Foundation, and it has since day dot. Not once a year when we remember. Every two weeks we close the books, work out the profit, and send 10% of it. Some fortnights are big, some are lean, because that's how real business works. Ad costs move, shipping moves, sales move. The percentage never does.

GIVE A SH!T® is a commercial supporter of Soi Dog Foundation. Soi Dog Foundation is a registered charity doing rescue, medical, and welfare work for street dogs and cats.

THE RHYTHM

WHY FORTNIGHTLY?

Because "we'll donate eventually" is how giving quietly dies. A two-week cycle keeps us honest: reconcile, calculate, transfer, publish. It also means the number moves with the business. If profit dips in a fortnight, the donation dips with it. If we have a monster fortnight, so do the rescues. We'd rather show you the real, moving number than a smoothed-out marketing one.

THE WORKINGS

WHAT'S A "MEAL"?

Dollars are hard to picture. Meals aren't. So we turn our donations into a meal count using one simple sum:

Why 25 cents? It's our own benchmark, set deliberately in the middle: big bulk feeding programs report meals as cheap as 5 to 10 cents when food is donated, while feeding a shelter dog at retail prices runs closer to 70 cents a meal. Food prices move around, so we picked a conservative figure and stuck with it. We'd rather undercount your impact than inflate it.

The 25-cent benchmark is ours alone. No charity we work with sets, certifies, or endorses per-meal costs. Donations are given as unrestricted funds, which means the charity spends them wherever they're needed most: medical care, rescue operations, food, all of it.

CASH + PRODUCT

TWO STREAMS, NEVER MIXED

10% of profits, every fortnight, to the Soi Dog Foundation. This is the stream behind the meals counter.

Stream two: product. Every month we send supplies, gear, and product to rescues, fosters, and shelters across the US, including The Unstoppable Dogs Ranch, SoCal rescues, and The Runaways. That's $56,117 of product so far, and counting.

We count these separately on purpose. Product donations never get converted into "meals," and meal numbers never include product. One counter, one meaning.

RECEIPTS OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN

THE LEDGER

The newest part of our transparency program: every fortnightly payment, listed with its confirmation, building into a running public record. Fair warning — we're still digging out the paperwork from the early days. When we started in 2018 the "operations department" was a shoebox and a dream, so some of the oldest receipts may take a while to surface (or exist only in spirit). Everything from here forward gets logged as it happens, and we'll keep backfilling the archive as we find it.

Frequently asked questions

Profit. On a $15 box the donation isn't $1.50, it's 10% of whatever profit is left that fortnight after making, shipping, and selling everything. Some brands quote price because it sounds bigger. We quote profit because it's what we can actually promise forever.

The 10% of nothing is nothing, and we won't pretend otherwise. That's exactly why the counter tracks cumulative meals funded to date instead of promising a fixed amount per order. Across eight years the donations have never stopped, and the running total only moves one way.

We did. It's our internal benchmark, chosen conservatively from published shelter feeding costs. No charity we work with prices individual meals, and we don't claim they do.

Because "animals fed" oversells it. One donation doesn't feed an animal for life, it funds meals. Meals are what the math actually supports, so meals are what we count.
